Yes! On your child’s third birthday, the NZ Government will fund up to 6 hours per day, for a total of 20 hours per week per child. Please see https://www.education.govt.nz/ for more information regarding these hours.

Absolutely. Your individual whanau circumstances/wages will be examined and if eligible, an hourly rate may be subsidised by WINZ if you meet their criteria. Please see https://www.workandincome.govt.nz/products/a-z-benefits/childcare-subsidy.html for more information.

We have an incredible cook who provides morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. We follow a seasonal, 4 week rotating menu, consisting of lots of healthy and delicious meals. We also cater for any allergy/dietary requirements for individual children.
Our curriculum at Mt Wellies ELC is built from our New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum – Te Whāriki. We weave learning strands and principles from this document with an assessment process called Te Whatu Pokeka. The purpose of this process is to recognise, celebrate and understand children’s culture, uniqueness and identity. We document children’s Kaupapa Māori learning dispositions and analyse their learning against a holistic tauparapara (growth and development concepts) where their whanau, whakapapa and rangatiratanga are valued.
We recommend that you pack a school bag with at least 3 changes of weather appropriate clothes, hat and suitable shoes/gumboots. You will also need to provide enough nappies for the day if applicable, and formula/breast milk and bottle. Please make sure that these items are all names or labelled.
Most definitely. We have a 3-4 week transition plan for our new children (age applicable) to ensure that your little one has the opportunity to feel safe and secure in their new surroundings with their primary caregivers. We want to be able to build a strong relationship with you, your child and your whanau, so these visits are very important.
Please ring the Centre or text our Centre Manager to notify if your child is away and if they have an illness. Please see our Accident and Illness policy for all stand down periods that may apply. You are charged as normal for all absences.
We sure do! We support our children to be prepared for not just primary school, but for life and the adventures ahead of them. We have a daily writing programme for our preschool children, offer a weekly book-bag programme, a good choice committee, and foundational learning skills throughout their routines and rituals during the day.
Once your child has been enrolled with us for 6 months, they are then eligible for 50% price on fees for their equivalent booked weekly timetable x 4 weeks. Please ensure you give us two weeks notice if you wish to use these holiday days.
