Kia Ora! Hello! Nǐ hǎo!

My name is Katie Wen, and I am originally from China. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Teaching in China and hold a Master’s degree in Education from the United Kingdom. After moving to New Zealand, I completed a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

I have taught in both China and Thailand, and these experiences have enriched my understanding of different cultures and ways of learning. As a mum to a five-year-old, I understand the joys and challenges of parenting and value the importance of creating a nurturing, supportive environment where every child feels safe, loved, and empowered to thrive.

I am passionate about working with children and feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Mt Wellies whānau. I love building meaningful relationships with tamariki and supporting them as they learn, grow, and discover the world around them.

My teaching philosophy is centered on giving children the freedom to explore the wonders of childhood. I believe in helping children chase the afternoon breeze, watch the clouds drift across the sky, and uncover the mysteries hidden within their free play.

I hope that each day, my smile, kindness, and care make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families I work alongside.
