Teacher, Rata Room (Preschool)

Brief info

Ko Nikkita Irwin tōku ingoa.

I am a newly graduated kaiako with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from Te Rito Maioha.

I am passionate about supporting tamariki on their learning journeys through strong, meaningful relationships with both tamariki and their whānau. I believe that whanaungatanga is at the heart of quality early childhood education, and I strive to create trusting partnerships that help every child feel safe, confident, and empowered to learn.

My teaching practice is grounded in culturally responsive approaches that honour and celebrate the diverse identities, languages, and cultures of our tamariki and families. I am committed to creating inclusive environments where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and a true sense of belonging.

As a parent of a neurodiverse child, I bring both personal understanding and professional knowledge to my practice. This experience has strengthened my passion for supporting neurodiverse tamariki and advocating for learning environments that recognise and celebrate each child's unique strengths, interests, and ways of learning.

I feel privileged to be part of each child's early learning journey and look forward to building strong connections with tamariki and whānau within our community.
